Wallpaper Trends: Art For Your Walls

Over the last decade our love affair with wallpaper has grown and grown to the point where we have some incredible prints, patterns and designs available on the market. We have become bolder and more confident with regards to making a statement on our walls, and whilst some of us love something cool, calm and neutral, there’s also a market for something wilder and stronger. Some of us do like to make a feature of wallpaper, drawing the eye into the room, adding drama and impact with colour and print. With the selection on the high street and online, it’s really not difficult to do! With that in mind, I thought I’d round-up a few pieces that I’ve found that might really blow you away. These designs aren’t for the faint hearted; they are quite wicked and overwhelming but, in the right setting, they just might look incredible…

Tapete Dodecanese

Sandbergs Digital 2013

I’ve discovered a brand in Germany (who ship worldwide) that have a stunning range of striking wallpapers that I just have to share with you! Tapeten have the most glorious collection and today I’m starting with this Moroccan flavoured cityscape design. Beautifully painted with a wide repeat it could certainly be a talking point of any room. Keep the rest of the room minimal if you don’t want it too busy, but if eclectic design is your thing then don’t hold back.

Tapete Foxglove

In particular, I’m very drawn to the bright colours of the Tapete wallpapers, and this foxglove design is no exception. If florals aren’t your thing, this pattern has a more contemporary, less twee edge so appeals to a wider audience and suits many homes. Perfect for an older girl’s bedroom perhaps, or even the downstairs loo. Larger prints work well in smaller spaces and can help the room feel bigger so don’t shy away from them.

Tapete Butterfly Garden

Another discovery from 5QM Tapeten, I was immediately drawn to the monochrome backdrop, but just adore the bright, vivid flashes of butterfly hues. Lots of ways to use this design, from country cottages to modern lofts, it’s not necessarily too feminine either so would suit a couple in a bedroom too.

Yoshino Wallpaper

Believe it or not this beautiful arty print is from B&Q! At just £18 per roll, this Japanese inspired design is awash with colour and vibrancy. Working well in a living room, dining room or bedroom and mixed with either dark authentic woods or white contemporary pieces, it’s going to really pack an impact on any wall. And at that price you can afford to rip it off if you really don’t like it!

 Studio Job Wallpaper Alt Deutsch

Designed by some of the best designers from the 21st century, this wallpaper is a myriad of colour and charm. Look closely and it looks like a colouring in chart you did as a child. Beautiful in a large room, with high ceilings and period furniture, alternatively it could work very well in a more contemporary setting. Mix with designer pieces and minimal styling to really let it shine.

Could you live with any of these in your home? We’d love to see how you’re working wallpaper in your house! Send us your pics on twitter, facebook or instagram. Can’t wait to see!
